It's hard to believe that we are already approaching the 100th day of school coming up in February! Students and staff have been working very hard, in all the subject areas, to improve and enhance student learning and achievement.
Our very successful CREATE (Children Regularly Engaged Actively To Excel) sessions continue to be a hit with both students, staff and guest presenters. Mindset Mondays assists all students in developing a growth mindset and to support them with strategies to self-regulate throughout the day. As well, RTI (Response to Intervention) is continuing to support all students by revisiting the essential learning outcomes weekly so that students can learn, using a variety of approaches, in order to develop a deeper understanding of the curriculum taught.
Throughout Advent, a large majority of our students were involved in leading celebrations and Masses, using the Fine Arts as a vehicle, to bring the meaning of the season alive through scripture.
On behalf of our staff, we would like to sincerely thank everyone for donating to the Christmas Giving Tree project. The silent auction raised over $800 and there were many families in our community that benefited from the support of generous giving. A special thank you to Mrs. Vandenbrink who organized the silent auction and to Mrs. McCullough for organizing the Giving Tree.
The first reporting term is now complete. Many thanks to all of our parents for your patience as we continue to learn the new reporting called Edsby. This new platform will allow parents and guardians to access student information and reporting in real time anywhere there is internet access. Progress reports and report cards will be moving towards a paperless environment; however, if you do not have internet access, please don't hesitate to contact the school so alternate arrangements can be made.
Parents will be receiving an email and/or text regarding the exciting things that are happening at St. Martin's! We are blessed to have your children in our faith filled learning environment and welcome your input and feedback any time. Schollie and ACOL surveys will be coming to parents in February. You are strongly encouraged to provide your input and feedback regarding St. Martin's on these important documents. It provides us with how to continue to grow as well as celebrate what is going well in our school.
May God continue to abundantly bless you and yours throughout 2018!
Yours in Faith,
Cathy Cameron Kristie McCullough
